Heading to the wide-open spaces? Packing the right gear the right way can make a huge difference to whether you have the ride of your life or end up riding for your life. Here’s 10 things to consider.

Luggage

As a general concept, weight and bulk on the bike should be kept as low and close to the centre of gravity as possible. Soft panniers and roll-top bags lend themselves to being stuffed tight with gear, are easily made water-proof and can often be positioned on the bike according to how much gear they’re holding.
