The ’71 Desert Scrambler 125cc by AJS Motorcycles is a tribute to the iconic scramblers of the past, blending classic design elements with contemporary engineering to deliver a motorcycle that’s both nostalgic and functional. Inspired by the commendable successes of AJS’s USA Sales Manager, Mike Jackson, in the November 1971 Barstow to Vegas, District 37, Mojave Desert race, this model captures the spirit of adventure and resilience.
At the heart of the ’71 Desert Scrambler is a 124cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum power of 7kW at 9,000 rpm and torque of 9.5Nm at 6,500 rpm. This setup ensures responsive acceleration and a smooth riding experience, making it suitable for both city commuting and light off-road adventures. The five-speed transmission, combined with a chain drive, offers riders precise control over their journey.
The ’71 Desert Scrambler is designed with rider comfort and practicality in mind. Its seat height of 760mm allows for an upright and comfortable riding posture, while the overall dimensions (length: 2060mm, width: 830mm, height: 1100mm) provide a balanced and manageable ride. The motorcycle’s fuel tank has a capacity of 13 liters, offering an impressive fuel economy of approximately 1.9L per 100km (149mpg), making it both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
