Forma boots competition Winner!

Ian Bancroft from Encounter Bay in South Aussie. Top bloke and winner of the Forma Terra Evos.

Back in March we offered a pair of Forma Terra Evo boots to a lucky reader.

We didn’t just want to lob a pair on any-old-body, though.

We wanted to set up someone who’d really benefit from a pair of tough, comfortable adventure boots.

We sent out a call on Faceplant – that social media platform all the kids keep talking about – and asked riders to stake their claim. We said pics of your old boots would be a good idea and would help support the claim.

Nice work with the Tarzan’s Grip there, Banco.

Well, the entries flooded in, and choosing the most deserving wasn’t easy. There are people wearing some pretty crook footwear out there.

And some of the descriptions of boots still in use had the Forma guys cringing – we’ll gloss over Norm Brownlie’s ‘smelly, wet, wrinkley feet’ (thanks for that mental image, Norm).

Ian Bancroft from Encounter Bay in South Aussie scored the new boots with his heart-wrenching plea:

‘When I stood on the ’pegs on my new KLR the heel came off my old boots which have no shank.’

We already had a little tear in our eyes when his daughter, Kim, chimed in with, ‘Loving the glued-back-on heel dad. OMG, Adventure Rider Magazine! Give my old man new boots!’

It was more than we could bear. We bawled like calves and tossed the new boots to Ian.

Daughters, eh?

Unfortunately we were a little slow to make a decision and Ian had lashed out on a pair of new Formas while he waited for the comp to be decided.

But now he has two pairs! And a daughter who doesn’t have to be embarrassed about her father’s riding kit.

That’s a win-win.

Thanks, Forma.

Ian’s daughter Kim was keen to see her dad in a good pair of boots.
