Rajiv Bajaj, the MD of Bajaj Auto India Limited confirmed today at KTM RC 390 and RC 200 launch that the design for the India-bound KTM 390 Adventure has been finalised and a version of the bike will also be unveiled at this year’s EICMA. Until now there were a lot of speculations about the design of the adventure tourer based on the naked street bike, the Duke 390.
The prototype of the KTM 390 Adventure were seen testing near KTM’s Austrian test facility late last year but the company has said that it can be launched globally by as early as 2018 and could be a part of the KTM’s MY2019 range of motorcycles. The adventure tourer motorcycle will be underpinning a modified trellis chassis with a new sub-frame that allows the seat to be at an ideal height. The KTM 390 Adventure also gets adjustable long travel front suspension and a mono-shock at the rear.
At heart will be a 373 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled unit that produces 43 bhp of power with torque optimized for off-roading needs of the riders. The KTM 390 Adventure will share some more parts and pieces with the bigger KTM Adventure motorcycles. If it lands on the Indian shores, the baby adventure tourer will be competing against the Royal Enfield Himalayan, BMW G310 GS and the Kawasaki Versys X-300. The KTM 390 Adventure can come out as another which could prove itself as a winner in India.
