I was talking to a very capable mechanic and we were discussing a problem with one of my bikes. He had the solution of course, and he laughed and said, “You should always phone me.
I’ve made all the mistakes.”
That struck me as very profound.
Is that a more important consideration than mere ‘experience’?I’ve met lots of riders who claim huge amounts of experience, but still seem to be short of common sense and often competence as well. Usually these people disagree with something I’ve written.
They stick out their jaw before telling me how they’ve been riding for 40 years and owned more bikes than I’ll ever dream of.
