After using the new LS2 MX436 Pioneer helmet on a five-day adventure ride in Victoria’s high country, I can definitely say this is a great product.
When I first looked at the helmet, I noticed the air vents couldn’t be closed. As the air vents on my previous helmets could, I was a touch concerned about what would happen when it rained. Over the week of riding, the weather ranged from 32-degree days to miserable and cold, heavy Victorian rain. I was pleasantly surprised my head didn’t get wet from the rain and the usual fogging issues weren’t a problem.
The integrated tinted visor was great for the sunny days and westbound riding in the afternoons. It also eliminated sore ears from wearing sunglasses inside the helmet for hours. My existing goggles fitted straight into the helmet and the outer visor angles allowed for closure over the goggle straps.
The LS2 helmet is one of the lightest adventure helmets I’ve used with the integrated tinted visor. It’s easy to clean and with its quick release chin buckle, you don’t have to take your gloves off again when you forget which comes first, the helmet or the gloves.
At the time of putting finger to keypad, I hadn’t fitted an intercom but noted there wasn’t an obvious location to mount the speakers.
