Revving Up for the Future: Can-Am Electric Bikes Set to Hit Australian Roads

Can-Am is charging ahead into the electric motorcycle market with the anticipated launch of its innovative models, the Pulse and Origin, slated for Australian shores in early 2025. After a hiatus of over 50 years from producing two-wheeled motorcycles, the iconic Canadian brand aims to reclaim its heritage and become a leader in the electric motorcycle sector.

Jose Boisjoli, CEO of BRP, stated, “Today, we are reclaiming our two-wheel heritage by bringing new excitement to the electric motorcycle industry. We intend to become a global leader in that space with true innovation designed to simplify the riding experience for new riders and introduce electric motorcycles to all.” This ambition aligns with a growing global trend toward sustainable transportation options.

Both the Pulse and Origin models are powered by a state-of-the-art 47hp Rotax E-Power motor and feature a lithium-ion 8.9kWh battery. The Pulse, designed as a roadster-style motorcycle, boasts an impressive estimated city range of 160 kilometers. In contrast, the Origin is an adventure bike equipped with an off-road mode, offering an estimated range of 145 kilometers. With the innovative liquid-cooled system, Can-Am ensures reduced battery degradation over time, optimizing range and charge time—essential for today’s riders.

Among the standout features are a 10.25-inch touchscreen display compatible with Apple CarPlay, multiple ride modes, an Active ReGen system for improved energy efficiency, and a KYB suspension system for enhanced ride quality. The Origin’s high ground clearance and 255mm of front suspension travel position it perfectly for off-road adventures.

While Australian pricing has yet to be announced, we can look to the U.S. market for guidance, where the Pulse is expected to start at $13,999 USD (approximately $20,700 AUD), and the Origin at $14,449 USD (approximately $21,300 AUD).

With these exciting models, Can-Am is set to not only make a significant impact in the motorcycle industry but also play a vital role in the shift towards electric mobility in Australia. Riders can look forward to experiencing the thrill of electric motorcycles while contributing to a more sustainable future on the road.
