You hear people talk about upskilling or doing a course on one specific technique or another. I maintain the most important skills for a rider are observation and concentration.

Without those two basics, mistakes soon follow. And mistakes on two wheels are usually paid for severely. Yes, you can argue riding skills help, and I don’t challenge that at all. But all the skills in the world won’t help if you aren’t concentrating and being observant.
