WBR Yamaha Dominates with Double Podium at ProMX Round Six

The WBR Yamaha Team celebrated a successful weekend at round six of the ProMX Championship in Toowoomba, with Kobe Drew and Seth Burchell both landing on the podium in the MX3 class. Drew secured a remarkable second-place overall, highlighted by his first-ever race win in the championship, while Koby Hantis continues to lead the overall standings with just two rounds left in the season.
Kobe Drew’s Breakthrough Victory Queenslander Kobe Drew made his mark on the championship with a memorable performance. After a solid fourth-place finish in the first moto, Drew seized his opportunity in race two. When race leader Jake Cannon made a crucial mistake, Drew capitalized, taking the lead and securing his first ProMX race victory. With teammate Seth Burchell right behind him, Drew crossed the finish line with a five-second lead, securing a 1-2 finish for the WBR Yamaha team.
Drew’s efforts have positioned him in third place in the championship standings, just eleven points shy of the leader. “It’s been a long time coming, and I’m pumped to finally win one,” said Drew from the podium. He acknowledged the support of his friends, family, and the WBR Yamaha team, stating that the team’s determination has been key to their continued success.
Seth Burchell’s Consistent Climb Seth Burchell, who has been steadily improving, earned his second podium in three rounds with a third-place finish overall. Despite missing the opening round due to injury, Burchell has fought back and now sits sixth in the championship standings. His 3-2 results at Toowoomba showcased his adaptability to the challenging track, filled with ruts and tough terrain.
“I like racing here even though it’s a tough track,” Burchell said. “I was happy to put together two good races and get back on the podium.”
Koby Hantis Holds onto Championship Lead While not on the podium, Koby Hantis remains in control of the championship. With 2-4 results for the day, Hantis finished just off the podium in fourth but retained his position at the top of the leaderboard. His consistent performances have kept him seven points ahead of Cannon, with Drew close behind in third.
“I didn’t qualify well today, and my starts were off, so I had to work hard,” Hantis admitted. “I’ll focus on improving for the final two rounds to maintain my lead.”
Challenges for Kayd Kingsford It was a challenging day for Kayd Kingsford, who finished sixth overall after a mechanical issue in practice and a crash in moto two. Despite the setbacks, Kingsford remains determined to bounce back in the final rounds.
“Tough day for me all around,” Kingsford said. “I’m focused on making up for it in the next rounds.”
As the ProMX Championship nears its conclusion, the WBR Yamaha team continues to be a dominant force, with multiple riders in strong contention for the MX3 title. The final two rounds promise to deliver intense competition as the championship battle tightens.
